Principal Engineer (TypeScript)

Alaffia Health | Principal Engineer (TypeScript) | NYC (Hybrid) | Full-time Alaffia Health is a Series B healthtech company in NYC fixing a real, expensive problem: US health plans lose billions every year to improper payments and administrative waste in claims processing. We combine clinicians with AI to catch billing errors before they get paid out. Just raised $55M in our Series B led by Transformational Capital. We're hiring a Principal Engineer, backend-heavy role (85-90% backend), to own architecture across multiple teams and help set technical direction as we scale. Stack: TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, React/Next on the frontend. You'd be: Owning delivery on systems spanning multiple teams Driving adoption of AI coding tools (we use Claude Code) with real usage across the team, not just experimentation Mentoring senior engineers, influencing technical decisions without needing to go the management track Working closely with product and business leadership on technical strategy Looking for 15+ years of experience, real hands-on TypeScript backend depth (Node.js, NestJS, or similar), and ideally some exposure to healthcare, fintech, or another regulated-data environment, though that's a plus, not a hard requirement.
